IN NAME ONLY

Now, I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I do like the song. However, I do consider this to be a completely different entity than the original CJ. The only way the two are related, in my mind, is the cool guy in uniform + cool girl lineup.

This is "Mainstream CJ" to me. 

Your link led me to Captain Jack Communications, the "search engine expert", because What good is your website...if no one can find it?

...But I assume you're talking about the recent Captain Jack that surfaced and seems to specialize in rap, but not so much in dance music.  I'm indifferent about him.  I'm not terribly big on what I've heard of his so far, but it may be too early for me to form a decent opinion about him yet, though.

I found it in rather...bad taste for them to revive Captain Jack despite the original's passing. They should have used a different name in my view.

Otherwise, I'm with ZukinMan on this. The new Captain Jack does not really meet up to the quality or even the 'feel' of the original's.

There is CJ Jr, who is actually Captain Jack's son.

There is "the new Captain Jack", a new completely different band. This is who they are talking about.

Basically, it's another Captain Jack taking CJ's name and making it look mediocre, if not flat-out "bad".
