So who here has experienced night terrors before? For those who don't know what a night terror is, look at this Wikipedia article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_terror

I had one around 5:30 this morning while thunderstorms were passing through my area. The only things I remember were screaming at the top of my lungs, feeling extremely panicked, and running into my brother's bedroom. I have no idea why it happened, but seriously, it was terrible. The last time I had a night terror before this morning was at least 3 or 4 years ago. Seriously, night terrors are seriously scary, and I hate getting them.

PureBlue,

Sorry to hear about your awful Night Terror experience.  Hopefully you never have one again.  My mom worked the midnight shift at her job for almost 23 years, and after she retired, she would occasionally have night terror attacks as well.  It's certainly a scary experience for everyone involved, and its always better to learn more about conditions like these, so thanks for posting the article.

..I don't really remember something like this, but i can say i had a SIMILAR experience, and i can somehow recall what happened too...well, not ALL of it, but i can remember seeing like circles, squares, and triangles moving rapidly, and then there was a part where i THOUGHT i was awake, and i kept telling myself that it was a dream, but i was still asleep, there was one point where i kinda crawled (but not crawled crawled, crwaled like The Grudge crawled) and i was crawling all over my room....SCARY ****, but after that i woke up...and i was sweating bullets.  Thankfully though it hasn't happened again.

I sure hope it never happens to me again, or at least not for a very, very long time. I was almost at the point of fearing for my life; it was really that bad. I have bad dreams pretty often, but like I said, this morning was the first time something like this happened in at least 3 years.

It also seems odd that all this kind of stuff is happening to me pretty much right after I was told that I suffer from depression. No, not the fake "i wanna slit my wrists and die and listen to hawthorne heights" depression, the real depression that causes people serious problems.

Well, on the bright side, at least real depression can actually be treated. Night terrors are pretty awful though, I got them a lot when I was a kid. My GF used to get nightmares (which are pretty bland in comparison) every night but found out a small snack before bed (half sandwich type) can even out your body chemistry and reduce the chances of nightmares. Placebo or not, it's worked really well! It might be something worth trying ^^
