"Today developer '7 Studios' announced their take on the music game genre, Scratch: The Ultimate DJ. Flaunting a partnership with Numark and Quincy Jones III, Scratch is said to "allow players to re-imagine songs on the fly and add their own creativity". The game is getting a custom "scratch-pad" to be played with. I don't know if it's just me or not, but the screencaps look a lot like a GH/RBish take on a certain 5-key DJ title released in 1998.

The urban-focused DJ title is slated to drop in Spring 2009 for the XBox 360 and Playstation 3."

Also known as beatmania Hero.

In all honesty though, I do hope 7 Studios got permission for this. It looks kinda cool. If they didn't and Konami sues though, I'll be on Konami's side. This is a hilariously blatant ripoff of beatmania 5key.

Yeah... I saw this the other day.  It reminded me of a GH version of 5key instantly.  >.>  Can't wait for Konami to sue.  :P

..EPIC LOL

However, i would actually fall through with this new game (Florida has no Beatmania or IIDX machines...this is kinda why) i mean it looks pretty basic...

And always remember, the Konami reps SOMEWHAT look through this site...i can already say for sure they are probably looking into this game and they may do something about it (unless they got permission to of course)...

We will see what happens in the coming days >_>

I think Activision just also announced they're making a DJ Hero game recently... so now two Beatmania clones to come out soon.

Looks really nice. I wonder what the peripheral will look like.

I am interested.

I believe this IS supposed to be DJ Hero, but I'm not sure.

If it is, I think it's played much like guitar hero. You hold down one of the keys and scratch the turntable when the note comes down. So, not like IIDX does where you just press the buttons.

Looks dumb.

...although this is an attempt at trying to be like Beatmania, I will actually try this game out when it comes out. I always never (try to) judge a game just by its first pictures or something like that. Idk, this game may be utter FAIL or this game may be a pretty good game to own...

...besides, i have never played Beatmania or IIDX before, so for this game to come out here in the states, (to me) this is like a "substitute" Beatmania...at least until some arcade place here in Tampa gets a IIDX machine. Plus, this game will NEVER be like Beatmania or IIDX, i just want to give this game a try and see how well the songs and interface is ^_^

BUMP: An interview with the creator of Scratch: The Ultimate DJ has surfaced at IGN.com

Plus, the buttons have changed from solid rectangles to pixelated diamond-shaped ones. I am REALLY interested to see the songlist for this game....

I actually think this game could be pretty interesting. I mean sure, it looks like it was heavily influenced by guitar hero/beatmania bit I like the idea of being able to use the scratch board instead of just easily pressing a button. I hope there is a release so I could just try it y'know. :]

Well i am hoping it releases for both Xbox 360 AND PS3 (i own a PS3, my older bro is not a huge Xbox fan so he won't get a 360...)

I am also curious to see the song list for this game as well ^_^
