Discuss the game and such.

I want the BMII machines back. If Konami had them still in production, I can see it selling in America a lot better than if it was only IIDX machines.

...I am still wanting to try this game somewhere, but i have no idea where a newer machine in the Tampa location is...well there is the Tampa Lanes, but that one has the original beatmania which to my knowledge is out of order...

Wait, they made a BMII? I honestly thought it was only IIDX. Can I see some pics of this said machine?

I'm having fun with my Pump It Up GX, currently running NX, to be upgraded to Pro.

They should make a 7-key version of Beatmania III. The foot pedal, headphone port, and FDD were all wonderful.

Or maybe just add those features to IIDX?

tofu, there's already E-Amuse for IIDX & newer generations of Bemani. Discs are TERRIBLY old, are would be pretty unuseful. Even now in 2008, standard computers don't even come with flobby drives.

LHoT10820, beatmaniaII machines looked similar to IIDX machines but without the bass floor panel.

I was aware. Although the way Konami has handled the e-Amuse for DDR, I don't know...

And yes floppy disks are outdated, but there's nothing wrong with old school tech. I'd never put the disk in my computer anyway. :P

I was going to say that I agree about non-DX units being more economical. I know I've suggested making non-DX machines for North America since they'd be cheaper. But then I remembered:

  • IIDX and II might both take up the same amount of floorspace. (Less than DDR, believe it or not.)
  • The monitor would be the same, and that's the whole expense of the unit right there.
  • IIDX has an eye-catching design. Quoted right from the flyer. :P

The bass shaker is worth a ton of steel. Cutting that would save quite a bit of money. But the rest of the cabinet is non-existant. IIDX is basically a desk with some thin aluminum poles holding up some very heavy speakers. I realize that aluminum >>>>>>>> wood, but those poles could be made out of anything and then lacquered.

When I say "The monitor would be the same" I mean that in a 2008 kind of way. Originally that wasn't true. But if they were to make new units today then they would definitely have a flat panel. Gold was the last game to have a CRT because the CRTs caused the game to be late. (Besides being stupidly expensive in those sizes.) And if you're putting an ordinary HD TV in an arcade machine, what's the difference between 32" and 40"? Maybe $200 now?

But now that I think about it, IIDX in a 5K cabinet with a 27" screen might be pwnage.

EDIT: It just hit me. Why haven't I ever seen or heard of any converted 5K cabinets? You buy 14 new Sanwas, you've got the 3 'square' buttons, you drill some new holes, move the 1P turntable, and install a negected 8th style kit that's been sitting in a closet since 9th. What would go wrong? Yeah, you've destroyed a 5K cabinet, but who cares? IIDX is rare, expensive, valuable, and sought after. But no one cares about 5K. 5K machines (not III machines, not The Final) get knocked apart with a sledge hammer and thrown in a dumpster when they fail to ebay for $100. I can't remember who on VJA it was, but someone once got a free CM2 because they found it outside. So why not put IIDX in it? I've seen IIDX in an Astrocity (generic) cabinet before. And unless you pirate modern IIDX and stick that in there I can't imagine that Konami would even care. Someone once installed MAX2 in a Solo machine and that was fine for singles play.

That makes me sad, wow.

Yeah. Makes me sad too. I'm glad that a bm fan found it.

In other late news, the collaborations for the new Gold CS exclusives were announced.

http://bmf.i-revo.jp/beatnation/collaboration.html

Sota vs SADA = omg trance

Naoki vs Ryu* = omg catchy

kors k vs 猫叉Master+ = omg happy

jun & DJ YOSHITAKA = The Plastic Ambition, probably omg dance

It's like they tried to pair people up who belonged together. Althought watch - they do something completely just for the sake of doing something completely different. I already want the Naoki vs Ryu* song in DDR and I don't even know what it is yet. :P

C'mon Snapps, I would've expected you to at least read down a few threads before making a new one...
