One year ago, on February 23rd 2008, the DDR Community Website was officially launched!  Since that time, DDR fans have had the ability to link 2 DDR titles to their website account (DDR Universe 2, DDR Universe 3), climb the Scoreboards, start their own Dance Crews, upload their own DDR Videos, receive exclusive news, talk about their favorite game on the Community Forums, and much much more.  We have some of the greatest Community Members on earth, and as the Community Website turns 1, we want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU!  We hope that you continue to join us as we improve the site, add new features, and work to make your community experience as enjoyable as possible.

Right now we want to invite you to our official 1 Year Anniversary Discussion Thread.  Stop in, fill out the fun community survey below, and post your reply for everyone to see.  Lets work to make this discussion thread as successful as possible!

DDR Community Website - 1 Year Anniversary Survey

1.) What is your most memorable DDR experience from the past year?

2.) What is your favorite DDR title released since the launch of the DDR Community Website, and why?

3.) What was your favorite Community Poll question asked since the launch of the Community Website?  For a refresher, click HERE

4.) Have you uploaded a video to the DDR  Community Website?  If the answer is no, tell us why you haven't used this website feature.

5.) What is your favorite thing to do here on the DDR Community Website?

6.) If you could add one thing to the DDR Community Website, what would it be?

7.) What was your favorite news announcement made here on the DDR Community Website?

8.) If you were in charge of creating the next DDR title, what would the game be like?

We hope you have a great time answering these fun questions, and we look forward to hearing your answers!

1. Winning the freestyle tournament on "Drop the Bomb SySF mix" standard doubles.

2. DDR X, I like the arcade versions and I have a ps2/ps3.

3. Do you prefer licensed music or Konami/Bemani music? BEMANI FOR YOU!

4. No, I'm just too lazy and it would probally get banned like xOMEGAx's.

5. Talk about DDR of course (stuff like what needs improvement and what songs we want and ratings).

6. Scoretracker for DDR ON PLAYSTATION 3!

7. Silvercube is a moderator! More representation!

8. I would kinda not be so urban. DDR X was amazing, but the announcer saying "Homie" and such was weird. SN2 looked cool, and if the next arcade release didn't look all rusted over and graffitied, I think that would improve the theme. Like a star background or having the sky change depending on the weather and time (rainy or cloudy night).  A DJ troopers DDR theme would be awesome!

But most of all, Konami Originals and good step charts. The fans like them and that's all there is to it. Why else would we have stuck on to this amazing game for over ten years. Thanks Konami. Keep on steppin'.

@MrTM2: Aww, thanks :)

Yay!

Happy 1 year anniversary! Laughing

Answers to the questions:

1) My most memorable DDR experience this past year was joining the site when it first launched (if that counts) If not, then opening up DDR X and spending the whole day playing it, lol.

2) Since the launch.. DDR Universe 3, because of the awesome stat tracking and Dance Crew options.

3) My favorite community poll question was "What network features do you want us to improve?" because that's the future of DDR - online options! :)

4) Yes, I have uploaded many. The only additional feedback I have is to somehow allow for videos to be watched in high quality as well (submitting a YouTube video adding "fmt=18" does not register when uploading the video on the site.

5) Socialize with other DDR gamers and read news about the DDR games. :)

6) Only one thing.. hmm... An online enabled DDR game where all the members could play together on the website.

7) The announcement of the DDR Universe 3 songs, and the launch of the site, of course.

8) A cumulations of what was mentioned in these two threads here: Thread 1 and Thread 2. :)

Thanks for a great year everyone! Here's to an even better one! ^_^

Happy 1st Yeat Anniversary DDR Online Community! =D

1. My most memorable DDR experience was last year at around March 1st, 2008 where i attended a DDR Tournament where i climbed to the Top 2 best of the tournament, but was beaten by the other person at the final round. Nonetheless, it was the best DDR tournament i have ever had so far, it was fun, met new people, and had a really great time!

2. DDR X because it was probably the only available PS2 game after the website's launch (lol) but i like the game for the new music and charaters and the SMM...and also the fact that it will be the next arcade release =P

3. My best online poll will have to be the "network features" one, because hopefully if they release a PS3 DDR later on into the future, then THIS is something that needs to be revised and improved.

4. Not yet, but i plan on doing it for the DDROC 1st Anniversary! I just hope i don't get banned for anything.

5. Meet new friends and talk about DDR! =D

6. (once ALL platforms get online service) a score tracker for your select game and also "challenge a friend" where if you have a select platform with online capabilities, you can "challenge" them to a dance-off anytime (I saw this at the Guitar Hero forums and thought that it would be a nice idea if it would be implemented here as well, but once all platforms have the online capability).

7. The announcemebt of the new DDR games for 2008 and the launch of the new site (i remember that) =)

8. I had this crazy idea...

think about a DDR game with the original characters, but they cross into an "evil" alternate universe where they meet their "alternate" characters (which look evil and dark and stuff) and that's not the half of it...

The songs would have a "light theme" and other songs will have a "dark-theme" to it, basically the "light" themed ones will be easier while the "dark" themed ones would be much harder and more chaotic. The songs can be chosen to be light, dark, or both (as in the first could be light, then remixed into dark, or the other way around). This would SERIOUSLY be a cool idea if it ever happens...

The songs will have ALOT of Konami Originals, plus crossovers from other BEMANI games and even KONAMI games as well.

I call it DDR: Light vs. Dark (If Konami does take my idea, credit me for this >_>) lol

Anyways, Here's to another good year at the DDR Online Community =)

Max is back making DDR videos! This time it will include DDR X US CS and soon enough, the DDR X AC!

1.) What is your most memorable DDR experience from the past year?

Uhm...The announcement of DDR X. Even though I was a bit disappointed about it, it was certainly exciting.

2.) What is your favorite DDR title released since the launch of the DDR Community Website, and why?

I think they all have pros and cons. I really like the stepcharts in DDR X, but it didn't have enough Bemani music. HP2 had a ton of Bemani music , but not very good stepcharts. Uni 3 had SOME good music and SOME good stepcharts, it was a mixed bag.

3.) What was your favorite Community Poll question asked since the launch of the Community Website?  For a refresher, click HERE

Probably the question thats up now. Hurray for J-Pop in first place!

4.) Have you uploaded a video to the DDR  Community Website?  If the answer is no, tell us why you haven't used this website feature.

Yup, I've upped a few videos of me playing DDR.

5.) What is your favorite thing to do here on the DDR Community Website?

Chat on the forums with other DDR players and give feedback to Konami!

6.) If you could add one thing to the DDR Community Website, what would it be?

Hmm...that's a tough one. Maybe a chat room :3.

7.) What was your favorite news announcement made here on the DDR Community Website?

I really liked the song announcements for each game. For the past few games, we would just get a press release with some songs on it, but for this year's games, we had news posts announcing songs on the website. I really liked that.

8.) If you were in charge of creating the next DDR title, what would the game be like?

*inhales deeply*

For licenses, I'd mix in popular American songs that will appeal to new players, catchy dance tracks to appeal to the ears, Japanese licenses for the otakus out there, and Dancemania/House Nation songs for the fans.

For Konami Originals, I'd have BEMANI songs from names like NAOKI, jun, wac, nc, SOTA Fujimori, D-Crew, TAG, 2MB and many others. Then I'd add in commissions by Darwin, Fracus, Rena Jones, and Daisuke Asakura. Finally, I'd finish off the list with a helping of Bemani Crossovers from IIDX, Pop'n, GFDM, and Jubeat.

Finally, if this were the AC title, I'd add in Konami Originals from the Hottest Party and Ultramix/Universe series. I'd even put some in the CS game so people could make edits.

Support Japanese licenses in DDR!

I think that sounds like Sonic Adventure 2! Hero (Happy Hardcore, J-pop, Trance), Dark (Hard Techno, Dark Trance, Hard Rock) and Last (Unknown) Boss Songs

1) Probably passing 888 Oni on the home pad.

2) My favorite release was most definitely UNI3 because it had amazing songs with awesome charts.

3) #15, but I never answered it. I would've answered more than 6, and then posted I'd like in between 10-15.

4) No, I havenm't, because when I realized you could, I didn't know how, then they decided to not allow you to continue because they were trying to improve the performance quality of the site. Also, I'm too lazy to do so.

5) Probably just chart among all of the people here among the Community, along side with suggesting things for the next DDR games. :P

6)  I would add some weekly or monthly DDR tournament. We'd post the names of the people for that week that want to participate, then we'd randomize them in some random order, then we'd have a tournament like that.

7) I wasn't here for too many news things, so I wouldn't really know. Probably Silvercube becoming a moderator though from what happened for when I was here.

8) Well my DDR game would be for the 360 first of all. On my DDR game, there would be beginner to heavy charts on all songs, and some challenge charts (at least 30/80 songs, excluding the boss songs). You wouldn't start with challenge charts though. To unlock them, you'd have to get an A on the Heavy chart. Then, on some songs, there would be an "extra" chart. These charts would be harder than challenge charts. They would be as hard as you could get a chart, so they could be up to a difficulty of (On DDR X's scale) 20. To get the "extra" charts, you'd need to AA the hardest difficulty that the song has.

On this game, you can model your own dancer. These dancers can be customized in many different ways. You can change theireye colour, facial hair, facial expression, shape of the face, hair style, hair colour, hat, shirt, pants, shoes, an extra features. These dancers would be made in story mode. The story mode is a dancing competition. In this story mode, you ARE the character! You move him around yourself, talkto people with the "A" button, etc. etc. The dance competition has different floors. Each floor gets harder and harder as you go up. There are different dance levels at the reception desk that you can sign up for. You can chose between Beginner, Light, Standard, and Heavy levels to start with. Once you beat one of them (about 20 dances so you get a chance to improve and so that the game isn't TOO short), you get a medal. Once you have medals for Beginner (Blue & 25 Gamerscore), Light (Yellow & 25 Gamerscore), Standard (Pink & 50 Gamerscore), and Heavy (Green & 100 Gamerscore), you unlock the challenge level, which is 25 of the whatever songs that have challenge charts. Once you beat Challenge's tournament and win the Challenge medal (Purple & 150 Gamerscore), you get the extra level with the worlds best dancers! If you beat this level, you beat the game, get the EXTRA medal (shiny black), you get 250 Gamerscore and beat the game.

Now, this is only  600 Gamerscore. The rest of the score is not only in unlocking the songs and the courses, but you have to beat them too. The courses in this game are like Universe 2'scouses, but instead of blending right into the song, the stops at the end of the last note (or in the case of a freeze note, at the end of the freeze), then blends into the other song, and starts where the song starts.

The modes in this game are:

- Game Mode

- Quest Mode

- Party Mode

- Workout Mode

- XBOX LIVE (Which HAS tournament mode)

- Edit Mode

- How To Play

- Records

- Options

- Jukebox Mode

(In that order)

In edit mode, it's a lot like Supernova 2's Edit mode, although in THIS one, you are allowed to use freeze notes while you're using 12th note, and it also goes to 24th and 32nd notes (which also have freeze privilidges) to provide just as much editing fun as Konami/Bemani does! No hands though. :P

Party Mode is like the party mode in Universe 3, it has all of the same types of modes.

Yup, a VERY long post, but that's what my DDR Game would be like.

Go check out my Simfiles on bemanistyle! I still have some on Z-i-V, but those aren't as good.

Oh, my gamertag is "Mini Massey" (without the quotations) if anybody wants to play me in UNI3

Yeah, top 20 in UNI 3, and now you can see why at youtube! (search for kynayo and you'll find my videos.

1.) What is your most memorable DDR experience from the past year?

RGCanada Conference 2008, a large event focus on DDR and other music games (ITG, IIDX, Other Bemani)

2.) What is your favorite DDR title released since the launch of the DDR Community Website, and why?

DDR Universe 3, the game had a solid songlist and stepcharts, the overall gameplay has also been inproved since the older Xbox games.

3.) What was your favorite Community Poll question asked since the launch of the Community Website?  For a refresher, click HERE

http://www.ddronlinecommunity.com/forums/3/forum_topics/323

I still want that shoe ;)

4.) Have you uploaded a video to the DDR  Community Website?  If the answer is no, tell us why you haven't used this website feature.

Two reasons, at the very few times I did have a camara, I was unable to play on the Extreme or Supernova 2 in the city for again a few reasons. Second reason was that the only videos I do have are ITG ones.

However should DDR X come to our city, this may change :)

5.) What is your favorite thing to do here on the DDR Community Website?

Check up on updates on DDR AC news (Since as DDR X for example)

6.) If you could add one thing to the DDR Community Website, what would it be?

Ranking System for the more common/recent DDR AC versions (X, Supernova 1/2, Extreme)

7.) What was your favorite news announcement made here on the DDR Community Website?

Haven't thought this out atm O.o

8.) If you were in charge of creating the next DDR title, what would the game be like?

Since I prefer the AC Versions over the CS Versions, My idea would be a AC Version.

It will be mix of the Xbox and PS2 Style of DDR. For example should this be the next game after DDR X, I would have DDR X's songlist mixed with the songlist for DDR Ultramix and DDR Universe.

Of course this is with new songs and plenty of Crossovers as well.

Some of the Xbox Songs are some of the best work in a DDR game and I strongly believe a AC Game with the songs from the Xbox games can do wonders.

And I would get rid of that DDR X guy....he talks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.

Yes to Kynayo's idea (especially if they release a PS3 version with DLC on it) =D

Plus add in some DDR shirts, V-rare's, stickers, pads, games, devices (such as USB's, etc), and other stuff ^_^

How about there's a thing that records how much DDR you play for the PS2, PS3, Wii, GC, Xbox AND 360 (dunno how that's gonna work, but...) and who ever logs the most hours of playing DDR each year gets a free gaming system! XD

No that's kind of dumb...

@ maxninja114: Yes, V-Rare's! Have not seen any new ones since Hottest Party. I don't even think any were created for the DDR Universe series :(

@ Kynayo: That sounds like a cool idea - maybe top 25 in the leaderboards get something special? :)

1.) What is your most memorable DDR experience from the past year?

DDR X... reading news, waiting for info, updates, etc.

For arcades: DDR X (Japan). For CS releases; DDR Universe 3 (US)

3.) What was your favorite Community Poll question asked since the launch of the Community Website?  For a refresher, click HERE

Do you prefer licensed music or Konami/Bemani music?

What's your fav genre in DDR series? I really liked them.

4.) Have you uploaded a video to the DDR  Community Website?  If the answer is no, tell us why you haven't used this website feature.

Yes.

I uploaded some videos of me playing DDR.

5.) What is your favorite thing to do here on the DDR Community Website?

Reading news, and exchanging experiences with other forumers.

6.) If you could add one thing to the DDR Community Website, what would it be?

A Chat Room. A Score Tracker for DDR AC and/or CS versions. And a quote optionsfor posting messages.

And subforums for user who speaks foreign languages (french, spanish, japanese, etc)

7.) What was your favorite news announcement made here on the DDR Community Website?

I'm not sure about it. I liked all the announcements.

8.) If you were in charge of creating the next DDR title, what would the game be like?

New features:

Please, bring missions (like in Dance Master Mode, StellarMM, HyperMM, Street Master Mode)  to arcades. Pump It Up has mission, Why not, DDR?

Only for Licenses: Same as pie.

(quote) For licenses, I'd mix in popular American songs that will appeal to new players, catchy dance tracks to appeal to the ears, Japanese licenses for the otakus out there, and Dancemania/House Nation songs for the fans. (/quote)

And please, bring more KOs from Xbox, Xbox360, Wii (and, most recently; IPhone) to arcades.

* And I would like to some DDR promotion outside North America, Asia and Europe. Don't forget other parts of the world like Latinamerica.

Even though I have not been on this site for a year.. XD

1.) What is your most memorable DDR experience from the past year?

Actually dancing with SKILLZ for once.

2.) What is your favorite DDR title released since the launch of the DDR Community Website, and why?

I'd have to say DDR X...  HP2.. Songlist sucked.. Don't have a 360.. And.. D: I just love PS2 DDR games.. What else can I say? Go for the originals.

3.) What was your favorite Community Poll question asked since the launch of the Community Website?  For a refresher, click HERE

"Do you prefer licensed music or Konami/Bemani music?"

And I prefer Konami/Bemani music of course.. <]

4.) Have you uploaded a video to the DDR  Community Website?  If the answer is no, tell us why you haven't used this website feature.

Not yet~ Not because I don't want too.. Just because I'm a little shy.. And I don't have a camera to do so!

5.) What is your favorite thing to do here on the DDR Community Website?

Just to talk to all these people~ Every fun.. And they are very nice.. :]  So I feel like I'm at "home" on the internet! [lame]

6.) If you could add one thing to the DDR Community Website, what would it be?

MORE ACTIVITY! 8D No~ But something so people can stay on and be more active.. Like more Tournaments and things of that nature.

7.) What was your favorite news announcement made here on the DDR Community Website?

...Must I have one?

8.) If you were in charge of creating the next DDR title, what would the game be like?

Well.. As long as it is for the PS3.. It should be awesome.. <strike>Anything on the PS3 is awesome.</strike>  But DDR needs to have more advertisement.. ]: I don't see ANY commercials about DDR.. NONE.. And thats not good.. If you want to have new a audience, its always good to do at least SOME advertisement..  Mostly on TV~ Since that is what people usually do.. Watch TV..

And Game Magazines [[ but you probably already advertise in there. ]]

Liked reading your responses.

As for activities, there was a DDR Web Game on the site, but it seems like its not working now?

Edit: it seems to only work on Internet Explorer. I mainly use Firefox - oh wait I just have to disable my adblocker :)

:3 I saw it~ It's kind of laggy on my computer~ And I played all the songs.. ]: I was wondering if they update it with new songs, or do you have to unlock them?

I also use FireFox.. :] All the time.. So maybe if I use IE, it will probably stop being so laggy?

I tried it on both browsers and the lag doesn't change...

...and unfortunately, those appear to be the only songs available for play, it has been almost five months since it was first released...

...shame they haven't updated it with anything =/

Epic Bump.

In two days, the site will have it's 2nd Year Anniversary!

And...well, i couldn't really come up with anything for this day, but i just wanted to bump this thread just because of it's 2nd anniversary!

I can't even believe that it's been TWO years already! So many good memories from this site, so many friends met just for one purpose: DDR.

I really have enjoyed my time spent here in the forums, meeting great people and for the team that helps organize this website. So thanks guys for your support :).

2009 saw the releases of DDR Hottest Party 3 (Wii) and DDR X2 (PS2), arguably two DDR games that should NOT be left out. What will 2010 have in store for us? DanceDanceRevolution for the PS3 and 360, and a possibility of a DDR X3 coming late 2010? We'll just have to see :3.

Hope you guys are enjoying yourself on the site, and may we get to a 3rd year! :D

Well my most memorable experience this year was going to the US Championship qualifying round in Las Vegas. It was very inspiring to see wonderful players.  Highly motivated me and got me pumped up.  I love this website, because it keeps me informed of up coming events.  Little did I know, but where I live does have a DDR X machine so I am excited to try it out.  Without this website I wouldn't have known about either of these two things.  I do not buy any home verison DDR stuff, I am just pure arcade for the last decade.

Happy Anniversary,

Blurwoman
