Here is the newest poll question: How often do you play on Doubles mode?  Your choices are "I only play on Doubles", "80%-100% of my DDR time", "60%-80% of my DDR time", "40%-60% of my DDR time", "20%-40% of my DDR time", "0%-20% of my DDR time", or "I don’t play on Doubles."

Cast your vote and feel free to elaborate on your choice in this thread!

You forgot the "I can't play on doubles because Konami didn't bother to include it" option.

0-20%, mainly because prior to SN2 there was no option for doubles premium on machines, and even though doubles premium is on SN2, it's not a default option, which means in turn fewer operators will use it.

Sorry, but don't want to pay $2.00 per round (or if you go to some places like Dave and Busters or Gameworks, it's $4-$5 for doubles).

Double Premium has been in DDR way before SN2, Dave. The first time I ever saw it activated was on extreme, so if it was a part of the machines before that point, I wouldn't know.

This poll has two edges to the sword, Perry. One side is the rate of doubles play on a machine without double premium enabled, and the other side is the rate of doubles play on a machine with it on. So you might wanna revise this...

I'm sure you'll find that an overwhleming majority of players would be inclined to try out/play doubles mode if it were the same cost as singles play.

Who wants to learn a new mode of play at double the cost where you're more likely to fail while you get adjusted?

I will play doubles pretty regularly on a machine with double premium enabled.

I don't play doubles because I don't have a pair of metal pads, and I don't go to the arcade enough to learn doubles.  The 2 machines I have access to have a messed up P2 side anyway.

Again, no Double Premium means I've played Doubles all of 6 times in the arcade. Also, I barely have enough space for one pad at home. I do enjoy Doubles and am glad to see great effort put into the charts; it seems in SuperNOVA and SuperNOVA2, the Doubles charts are generally more fun and varied than the Singles charts, so it's a shame I can't play more.

"Double Premium has been in DDR way before SN2, Dave. The first time I ever saw it activated was on extreme, so if it was a part of the machines before that point, I wouldn't know."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think pre-SN2 only had Joint Premium, where all modes involving 2 pads (including 2 player modes) become only 1 credit. Double Premium just makes Double 1 credit, which, in my opinion, should be default, if not permanently on, if not being able to switch between Single and Double on the fly.

Otherwise, as much as I love Double, I can't play it too much because of cost.

I love to play Double.  I play it about the same amount as Single, maybe a little bit less.  I don't mind paying twice the price, since I love playing it so much.

BUT.  I strongly advise that Double Premium is forced to be active on all versions in the future.  This will generate more interest in Double mode.  Because right now, most people are missing out on half the game's content because they have to pay twice as much.  And you don't want to put all the work into making good Double charts if a lot of people aren't going to play them, right?

0%, but only because right now I can't afford another CF.  If I had a second one, I'm pretty sure I'd play doubles about 80% of the time.

It's too expensive to play in the arcades. I also don't have two pads, so I play 0%.

Until recently, 0 to 20% because of the price.

But now our arcade turn it on for our SN2 =)

I think an idea for Konami for the next DDR AC is to make Doubles for 1 credit as a Default setting =D

I'm 99% sure that I was abusing Joint Premium on extreme for doubles play, AJ.

I think the difference between that and double premium is that double premium limits you to either playing single or double, but not 2p mode...but I'm not entirely certain about that.

I play about 50% of the time on doubles now because I got the ITG bundle that had two pads.  They're nice for soft pads.. but I still can't get a full combo because they keep erroring -.-  I need to get 2 ignitions someday.  Or Bluesharks :D

I'm quite familiar with doubles.

I was introduced to it on the DDR Ultramix series on Xbox. I used to play it over 40% back in the day - especially with the controller. It was fun.

Nowadays I don't spend much time at all with Doubles, because I usually like playing regularly with a 2x speed mod.

i really want to start playing doubles more and the only thing really keeping me from playing it at the arcade is doubles premium not being default.

I play doubles at home occasionally.  Only when I feel the need to shake myself out of the usual routine.  I'm not as good at doubles as I am in single play, so I don't burn off as many calories, which is a major part of the game for me.

When I do play,  I use two Ignition 2.0s which I zip together via a heavy-duty separating zipper attached to the cloth edges.  The Ignitions are ones I retired from regular play because of slight flickers - maddening in regular play, but since I'm not good enough to be all that serious about scores in doubles I can tolerate them.

I play doubles pretty frequently; the best machines near me are $0.50 for 3 songs/joint premium so doubles isn't much of an issue.

I probably play doubles about one third of the time.  When I go to TGA and pay the flat rate for the day I probably play doubles about 60% of the time.  Not only is it cheap, but I have time to relax between rounds.  Overall I like doubles more than singles, but it tires me out very quickly so I tend to only do one round if I don't plan on spending all day in an arcade.  I never play doubles on home versions because I only have one mat.

I'd been playing Double 80% eversince i'd learned to play it (like after 6 months of single playing).

And it only cost abt 0.3$/4 songs anyway.we need to buy coin which is abt 0.08$ for each and

have to insert 2 coins for single 4 songs and 4 coins for double 4 songs.

But i think playing single is more tiresome than double on maniac or expert modes on some songs.

For me, it's more tiresome to step on the constantly flowing steps without moving the body much while playing single song and legs also become to feel tight.I feel more light and relax while playing 7 or 8 stars double songs than hardcore single songs.

i play doubles 0-20% of the time

it can be fun, but i'm content with singles a lot of the time. it just depends on my mood, especially since the arcade i frequent is set to joint premium so it's the same price either way

Doubles > Singles

End of story.

I play 80-100% of the time at home on doubles, and about 40-50% at the arcade.
Except at TGA, then I play doubles 80-100%. haha.

0-20%. The arcade I go to still has JP on their Extreme, but no JP or DP on their Supernova 2 machine. I now play mostly SN2, so I don't play as much doubles.

I love playing doubles!  It helped me get a lot better at crossovers back in the day.  I play doubles a little bit at home, but my pads travel too much.  When I go to the arcade, I play doubles 50% of the time.  If I could play on a machine with joint premium or doubles premium enabled, I would play doubles 100000% of the time!  It's the best way to generate crowds!

I love playing doubles! I only play on a home verson but it sure makes the game harder. If people are complaing that there is not a lot of hard song in DDR, they need to play doubles mode more. It makes single mode look easy! If nothing else it makes the game much more fun.

IthI play it by using two redoctane pads and pinning them togetter.
