UnknownGamer has spotted this game on GameFly:

http://www.gamefly.com/products/detail.asp?pid=131550&t=0&fcTrack=Search?-?-

No details of course, but the title is apparently "Dance Dance Revolution X" and is set to come out on the PS2 in late August. This is roughly within the timeframe for AC->US CS games (Like SN1 US CS and SN2 US CS). Of course, the next AC version of DDR has yet to be named, so we have no idea what it is.

BUT...Here's something to think about. "X" is obviously the roman numeral for the number "10". This year is DDR's 10th anniversary.

So, is it the next AC DDR? Or perhaps an abstract game for US games to catch up with Japan? Or a "gimmick" game like Disney Channel or Mario Mix? Or is Gamefly just full of it?

Discuss.

I'm pretty sure 'X' is just a place holder name until they come up with an official name...

Also, I don't think it's the next AC DDR game... yet. I think it'll just be a PS2 game and then maybe it'll become an AC. I mean, seriously, we JUST got Supernova 2 AC!

The X is likely just a reference to the 10th anniversary.

I believe this game will be a catch-up game. It's timeframe suggests as much; AC announcements for the past two games preceded their respective CS announcements in all regions. Since this was first announced for PS2, it is a safe bet there will be no AC game to match.

I expect it to be a game featuring missing songs, and perhaps a new song here and there as a preview for the next AC release. Hopefully some new licenses too. My main disappointment with SN2 US was that it claimed to be SuperNOVA2 when it simply wasn't. This game interests me though. It (so far) is not trying to be anything else other than just another DDR game.

A new game title is leaked and it's already getting put down?

To be fair Arctic, the game was hardly "announced". Konami has nothing on any of it's webpages about it, and it doesn't look like any other game site has anything to say on it. From what I hear, Gamefly is sort of known for leaking about game titles. So, it's quite possibly the next AC title. I guess we'll find out in a month or so.

Nobody's been putting the game down, NeonKel1... if anything, I'm intrigued by it.

Even if it's not an official announcement, for Gamefly to have a release date for a PS2 game so near and there be no signs of an arcade counterpart, it's indication enough for me that it will not have an arcade accomplice. I could be wrong.

I'm just hoping Konami might be implementing what I've been asking for; a global console release to mirror a global arcade release. In that vein, a catch-up game is a great idea to get us all on even ground, so for the next AC and CS release, all regions can have the same game at the same time, as it should be. Just my hopes. Probably way off.

There's a lot of material that's not on the US PS2 games, so another one would be awesome. I kind of doubt that they'd give us a catch-up game though. I mean, SN2 was bad but it wasn't Extreme bad. It had more than just 2 of the boss songs from the AC version, haha. Only time will tell though, as there's no official info yet.

"I kind of doubt that they'd give us a catch-up game though."

That is more or less what Extreme2 was, though.

They kind of owed us a decent home version after DDR Extreme US. SuperNOVA/SuperNOVA 2 US didn't suck too badly (actually they were really good comparatively), so it may not be necessary. Not to mention it would have been 2 years between Extreme US and SuperNOVA US, and they needed a new console release between them. SuperNOVA 2 is still rather recent.

I'd rather see a game full of new music anyway. lol.

I'm sorry, but SuperNOVA 2 US sucked.  SuperNOVA was great except for so many 80's songs -__-
