Turn It Up Tuesdays

This week, we're looking for a little something different from you guys.  We've run quite a few of these Turn It Up Tuesday events, with a some art contests, writing contests, video contests, and other things. The Agora team has really enjoyed putting these together for you week after week.

We're interested in your feedback.  What have you guys thought about the contests?  What have you enjoyed, or not enjoyed?  What do you love about them, and what would you like to change?  If you haven't entered in any, why not? (Seriously, why haven't you?!)  We just want to know what you think about it.

We're also looking for suggestions for future Turn It Up Tuesday events in the future.  And though we won't be offereing prizes, if we do use your suggestion, be sure that your name will be proudly displayed on the thread!

Thanks guys!

Hi ^_^

There's a thread in the Site Feedback suggestion that would be great for some Turn It Up Tuesdays events:

http://www.ddronlinecommunity.com/forums/5/forum_topics/919

I really like the Turn It Up Tuesdays events. It would be nice to see other things as active on this site (site and blog updates), as well as having some new avatars to choose from. Maybe one of the next Turn It Up Tuesdays events could be submit an avatar creation, and then they can be used on the website! It would be nice to have some more avatars to choose from (like from DDR X or Ultramix/Hottest Party series).

Having a signature banner for winners is nice, but unfortunately because of signature character limits many users can not use them, so perhaps having it shown on their profile, so it can be a nice little"trophy" area of a member's accomplishments on the site.

What I'd probably change with the Turn It Up Tuesdays is the voting. I think if it were anonymous it would be more active and easier to calculate. Have a second poll just for the Turn It Up Tuesday event and members can click on which user they liked the most.

Some people don't participate in these events because they don't have the time, or is a bit shy on the forums. Also, the Forums are pretty big - for those new to the forum, it can be very daunting figuring out where to look for events like these - others are not aware of them as it's not displayed on the home page. Perhaps having a home page link to the next event would produce more activity.

Anyways, I may have more things to add in the future, but for now this is what's on the top of my mind :)

One idea is to have video contests focusing on one new song a week. Start off with songs that are pretty accessible (usually any song found in DDR Extreme Arcade should work). So basically it is giving us something new to focus on each week.

Other than that for the site, really focus on getting a usuable arcade location page going for this site as I think pretty well all the other community sites have lost interest in maintaining their own. If you can get it working, here are some good ideas for player interaction.

1. Allow plenty of space for players to specify location, machine position in the location, performance of the machine, detailed cost to play (like for example there is a DDR machine in Colorado Springs, where the arcade uses a point card system to play. Its cost 5 points which in money terms translates to $1 dollar to play).

2. Encourage player voting like how well the machine works, the pads works, etc, There are locations how there that don't deserve the time of day.

I am like 7 different persons and I never know who I am going to be from one person to the next. So don't be surprised.

The Turn It Up Tuesdays idea was incredible, i remember before this happened that the site wasn't really getting that muc attention and it was getting pretty "dull" here...

...but soon after that, TIUT came along and BAM! up goes the post counts XD

Not much suggestions on the TUIT contests, however i actually have a thread with a list of suggestions for different "kinds" of contests for the site (and if possible, for whenever the new games show up).

Suggestions or contest thread. (Ahhhhh Silvercube beat me to it =P)

That's all the suggestions that i can think of as of right now, although i did have one idea for a contest, but i don't know if it can fall through (due to the many number of members we have on the site) but i'll just tell it anyway:

Member Challanges:

The admins/moderators pick ONE member from the site to host the challenge for that Tuesday, the member then has to create a challenge for either a select players to play (it can run between just one platform or many different platforms that have the same song in it) or it is an open challenge (players can choose any song but it has to be within a certain requirement such as BPM speed or with mods, etc.). The player also has the option of either choosing a specific difficulty OR it can be any difficulty. The player who meets said requirements and gets the highest score on it wins the challenge. Prize could be the banner sign or something else =P.

This could be a good idea for a site contest, only problematic factors is that there are A LOT of members here that are "signed up" on the site, but not that active in it. If this contest were to go down, i would suggest to make a list of all the "most active" members on the site, that way they can quickly respond to the request and make the challege before it starts.

Another problem could be the limitations of the songs they would choose, i know that not that many people here have ALL the PS2 DDR games or the Wii DDR games or the 360 DDR games, so it will be tough to try and find a song within those requirements. Also the difficulty issue might be a problem too...

But all in all, i think it would be a nice way to get the members playing the games more...for the time being once DanceDanceRevolution comes out with (hopefully) Online Play...

...which reminds me, going to go to the Site Suggestions forum for another thing =P

Why i enjoy the TUIT contests? Well....their fun! It gets me motivated to do stuff for the community! And just like it says on the TUIT banner, it is a really great way to meet new people and a great way to see their "skills". I have really enjoyed participating in these contests and i really hope that we can get some really cool and exciting ones in the next weeks! Thanks guys! ^_^

P.S i also agree with Silvercube as to how the contests should be "announced", unless the Events/Tournaments section on the front page is ONLY for Konami related things, why not use that space for the TUIT contests? And the voting is also a nice idea too =P

Max is back making DDR videos! This time it will include DDR X US CS and soon enough, the DDR X AC!

You the know the lord of the dance contest. Maybe we could actually have the member (who is the lord of the dance) sets up a challenge and whoever wins this we'll be crowned as the lord and gets to decide on the next challenge. Maybe we could actually get people to be moderators for a week or so.

Oh, I never saw this thread. Here's just a few of my ideas

-When the new DDR games come out, I think it would be cool to have contests where the top prize was a free copy of the game. For example, a wallpaper contest where 1st prize is a copy of DDR, 2nd prize is a little music CD sampler, and 3rd prize is a siggy.

-Probably out of the Agora team's hands, but I miss the old "Konami Asks..." thread. A lot of the ideas there were implemented into DDR Universe 3.

-I guess...just generally more stuff from Konami, which I know if out of your guys' hands. Konami staff haven't posted a blog here in forever.
