Hey guys, so I've been playing Quest mode on DDR Uni 3 (X360) version. Problem is, I'm stuck on 2 challenges.

Corvus street, it has the song Less than 3. The challenges are "Only step on quarter notes. Get a full combo of all the notes."

#2 is "Don't step on Down arrows: Score 80% great perfect or marvelous"

#3 "Score 100% perfect or marvelouos: (All jump arrows)"

Problem is, I don't know exactly what quarter notes are and well, i've failed all 3 challenges several, several times.

The other is the Taurus street which has the song 30 lives with you (up up down down mix). The arrows are invisible and you must score a full combo on all arrows to pass the challenge.

Admittedly I'm not the best player at this. I have trouble on basic songs still so,challenge mode has really thrown me for a loop. Any tips that could help me out? I've heard some people mention playing it with a controller, but how does that make it easier? Thanks for the advice guys. These two challenges cause me to get so frustrated, I flat out stopped playing for months..

Hi Kinohki! Welcome to the DDR Forums ^_^

Take a look at the DDR Community FAQ if you like:

And feel free to introduce yourself here:

Well for the first challenge, I think going to Options and changing the arrows to Notes might help.

Overall, challenge mode is all about going into practice mode first and practicing.

It is very frustrating, it's the most difficult quest mode out of the 3 Universe games on the 360.

I myself have not completed all of the challenges.

As for the controller, it can make it easier because it requires less energy, try giving that a shot if you like :)

Hi Kinohki!

While I don't own any of the Uni games, I may be able to offer some more advice:

Mission #1: Quarter notes are the arrows that occur exactly on the beat. If you turn the Note option on like Silvercube suggested, all quarter notes will be colored red.

Mission #2: DDR Extreme had missions similar to this one. What I did was cut out some strips of paper, tape them together end to end, and tape the whole thing to the top of the TV so that it covers the column for the arrow you're not allowed to hit. It made it a bit easier not to instinctively hit the banned arrow.

Mission #3: Not much you can do about this one but practice, as far as I know.

For the 30 Lives mission, you could go to this page: http://www.bemanistyle.com/parser/ddr-content.php , click on 30 Lives and choose the options on the right to match whatever difficulty the game is making you play on. Click the "show me the stepchart" button and print out the page it gives you. When you play the mission, just read the chart instead of the screen. Yes, it feels really awkward, but it's better than nothing. XD

All these missions can be overcome with practice, but these are some usable workarounds. Hope they help =)

Alright, I need to second this post, the '30 lives' challenge is driving me insane after 2 hours of trying it.  The only note I can't hit is the last one.

When I hit the second to last note in quarter note time it hits fine, and then hit the last note fast, slow, or in time comes out as a boo.  When I delay the second to last note I hit it fine and the same nonsense happens for the final note.  It's exceedingly frustrating to be stuck in the game this early and wasting hours on hitting what seems to be an unhittable note.  The closest I've come is an 'almost' but other than that I get 'Marvelous' on every note, and then a 'Boo' on the final note.  Help me before I snap the disk.  Thanks Smile

For thirty Lives just follow the Music "Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right" then just remmber what notes to hit for B A Select Start.

oh yeah, I know exactly what notes to hit.  To reiterate, I'm a good player, I'm playing through songs in the game mode on expert difficulty and passing with no problem, to get through up up, down down, left right, left right (left right) (up down) (up left) (up right + hold) shouldn't be hard, but the final not won't register properly in about 100 tries now.  I've installed the game to the hard drive so I can try it faster, but I just can't get the last note to hit, infuriating.

Are you sure you're getting the timing exactly right? The "A, Select, Start" jumps form a sort of slow triplet. If you count by eights while playing (1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 1) you'd hit "B" and "A" on the counts of 1 and 2, then hit "Select" between 3 and 4, then "Start" on the count of 1 on the next measure. I hope that made some sense... =)

Yeah, that definitely makes sense, but I notice that I hit 'Select' really well every time, even if I do it on 3 as opposed to between 3 and 4, the next one is consistently a boo

to update, I'm now having a really weird problem, I can finally hit the last note, but I get a 'boo' midway through the hold.  I figured it was my mat and plugged in a controller and it still gives me a 'great' for the note, then goes to 'boo' even though I'm holding in the buttons, what gives?

Huh... now that's weird. Again, I haven't played any of the Uni games but I know the song from DDRX. Unless the steps are different between the two games, I can't think of a good reason for that to happen. Does the mission make you play on Heavy/Expert difficulty? Does it force any mods besides Stealth?

I'm having the same exact problem as CMack on 30 lives. I get all marvelous until the last note and no matter how hard i try i can never get better than 'Good'. It is annoying me greatly because this is preventing me from moving on in quest mode and i've been at this for weeks now. I've even tried using a xbox 360 controller. Any other tips?

Update: After hours of trying I finally got it down.... but of course what is happening to CMack is yet again happening to me. I hit all the notes I even manage to get marvelous on the last note, but it gives me a 'boo' right in the middle of the hold. I'm been trying repeatedly and get the same results even with a controller. I'm incredibly fustrated and don't know what to do. I really want to unlock the other songs, but it seems impossible. =(

To Layos: Yes, it makes you play on Expert and the only mod is stealth arrows.

I think I may know what the problem is. The game is probably giving you the second konami code sequence, not the first one. If that's the case, you may have to continue through the next chorus. It picks up between the counts of 2 and 3 of the fourth measure with "right-up-right-up-left-up" (to go with "No matter what I do", IIRC). See the link I posted earlier in the thread to get the entire stepchart. If I'm right, the mission will start roughly halfway down the fourth column. Let me know how it goes. =)
