Simple topic to discuss what features, songs, characters, and etc things that should not have been added to SN2. This is NOT the "What should have been added to SN2" thread, though can be applied to this thread in conjunction to your post, if necessary. Also, stating how to fix said problem is welcomed.

Forcing Marvelous timing was one bad idea.

Another bad idea was that getting an AAA became alot easier... now it feels like getting an AAA means just as nothing as getting an AA or an A

Eh...I don't mind marvelouses at all really. An overwhelming majority of the community has embraced it, and overall I think it was a step in the right direction. I'm fine with the AAA rating...they just need to really empasize the PFC when you get it, make it a whole 'nother grade.

I think there was a lot of right done in SN2, especially compared to SN1. But I think all of us agree that the Step Ratings in SN2 were...off on many instances. Both overrating and underrating happened. Now, as a long time player, I really don't care about ratings that much. But maybe players who aren't as experienced as I am will play Ain't no Mountain High Enough Expert and feel like they can take on CapitvAte ~Chikai~ Expert...

Oh! Another thing...Stop going out of your way to eliminate any signs of Kanji or Kana from the American releases. Having them translated on the songwheel is fine, but changing the banners to Romanji is just not worth the effort, believe me, most people don't care about that. You're really wasting your time when you do that :(. Now of course...menus and things of that nature SHOULD be translated to English when brought over here...but song banners? Eh...

And finally...GET RID OF THE ANNOUNCER. He serves no purpose.

lol at the announcer thing... but yea, the battle mode and the tutorial
mode announcer sounds worse than the normal announcer.  At least with the ultramix series they kept getting new announcers... which were both make AND female voices... prefferably I'll take the female voice over the male voice anytime... Like DDR Solo's femal announcer... they should bring her back just for kicks, lol.

I found the female announcer a little bit forced and lacking if I'm honest...

I like the idea of trying dual male and female announcers with each one taking a turn at saying something like:

Male: Select your style!

Female: Select a song!

Male: That's a fantastic tune!

Female: Get ready!

Male: Let's dance!

Or something like that.

This actually started from SuperNOVA, but the backgrounds for songs that don't have videos are pretty distracting. :(

Euromix, that's a pretty good idea...

Haha, just don't ever make a female announcer like the one from Solo 2000 again. More inexperienced US players would leave their arcades crying if they had to listen to that lady yelling at them.

In supernova 2 I really don't like the fact that AAA's really don't mean anything anymore. Now everyone is going to be like "I AAA'ed so and so" but with greats. It's also going to start the my great is lower scene. -_-"

My main gripe is the lack of consistency in the difficulty ratings. Far too many songs do not fit the given difficulty. We're calling Venus a 9 and SUNKiSS♥DROP a 7?

The original music videos in SuperNOVA2 were amazing. I hope they continue to create them for the next game. There's only so many times I can watch Emi do the same dance to every song, but original videos are always a pleasure.

I for one HATE the characters. Ive always thought that they were distracting and have learned to ignore them entirely. i mean they are nice for if your just learning to play or dont care about songs but if your gonna have a game that has a high score tracker then the option to shut off characters is VERY nice.

also i miss the unique videos but i also think that they should be not so hard to read the notes, if that makes any sense. like from extreme jp "A"  if you play it x3 the blue and purple bubbles in the song midway makes reading the arrows EXTREMELY hard.

I also really hate the fact that the AAA rating was dumbed down.

Seriously this is all everyone can say about what is wrong with SN2?

There's one big thing wrong that would make SN2 playable in the US.....e-amuse!!!!

The point of playing DDR now seems to be in the hands of e-amuse in the arcade since that keeps track of scores, has new modes of play, and most importantly UNLOCKS THE FULL GAME.

To me playing SN2 in the arcade is useless without e-amuse....so I went back to playing Extreme with memory card slots and in the groove 2 but my overall involvement with DDR is steadily decreasing and I'm moving on to other music games. I want my IIDX Gold in US already, I seriously despise betson.

"This is NOT the "What should have been added to SN2" thread"

Anyways. Marvelous is okay, but PFC should be its own rank for sure. So should MFC I suppose?

Step chart misratings are fair-sized problem to those who aren't total experts. Ratings need to be thought of much more really..

^YEEESSSSS

That was one of the good things SN1 lacked that ****ed me off.

Also I was dissappointed at the lack of BG vids. Too many stages have characters.

And you know they'd be popular, because EVERYONE was like OMG WHAT ANIME IS XEPHER FROM??

"This is NOT the "What should have been added to SN2" thread"

Yes I know I read that but I had to post it because e-amuse is not something that falls into that catagory because it's PART OF THE GAME and it was taken out for the US. Therefore I want the real version of SN2 here like everyone else does.

I think SN2 shouldn't have categorized everything in Extreme and SN/SN2.

Greats do NOT make an AAA, that really got me annoyed.

The backgrounds that don't have music videos are distracting, playing FELM @ 400bpm 1.5x with a bright red background when all the arrows are red is... well not good.

I'm not a fan on Marvs on normal play, since now exists a rank above an AAA.

Still stretching out the horizon of what a 10 footer is.

That announcers what, almost 10 years old now, even tho he's still great, it's not hard to get some voice recording's isn't it?

LACK OF GOD DAM DANCEMANIA.

Overall (basis on the Jap vers), way way better than SN1.

Hmm...whomever said that eliminating the kanji from the titles....win.

I mean, It ruins the authenticity of the song/game by doing that. It also creates sort of a language barrier that never really existed in DDR before.

Example: If you were to talk to a Japanese player about a song...Say...

US:"Hey! I Got 3 greats on Magic Door!"

JP: "Huh?"

US: " You know! *Hums song*"

JP " Mahou no tobira????"

US: "Well, its called magic door so..."

And then begins chaos.

Yea. DDR usually brings players from all over together. lets not alienate them even more. It seems like SN2 is doing that with it not only lacking e-amuse in the US AC (I think we can place the blame on Betson for that) therefore cutting out a GREAT deal of the songs players were looking forward to, But also not being released in Europe...

Yea. This version was supposed to be super epic, but its pushing away a ton of players.

My two cents on that at least. Hopefully you'll take it into consideration.

Everything.

When have we ever been forced to AA a certain song to get the ES? It's always been "AA whatever on heavy to get ES", not "AA this song on 3rd stage because we said so". I don't really like having the option of only choosing 2/5 songs if I want to make my way to OMES.

Unreal and NGO are the two worst songs on the mix with equally the two worst stepcharts on the mix (even on basic, Unreal makes no sense and is just awful), and they were picked as the forced ES and OMES enablers, bravo.

We uh....got less songs available for play here than we did on our console version. Explain to me how we can have Hades, Stars, Fire, and Arrabiatta on our console version that came out MONTHS before the arcade release....and have them locked out on the arcade release? That's laughable.

No unlocks also = a measly 4 available new oni courses that all suck and, except for one course, comprise completely of standard/basic steps.

IIDX grading doesn't belong in DDR. AAAs aren't AAAs anymore, and the marvelous timing hardly compares to the difficulty of getting flashing greats on IIDX, so why are they now considered apples and apples?

Why are the JP CS releases always superior in every conceivable way to our CS releases?

Why can't we have our background movies back? These dancing stages honestly make my eyes burn, they're terible.

Rage still looks like an idiot and you-know-who still looks like she's looking for some lovin' off the street.

There are so many misrated charts in this game that it makes me want to vomit, and I'm not even counting the locked songs, they're terribly graded too (why are songs like Urehnus a 10...see what I had to do there to avoid censorship?)

Hey, here's a good one, HALF THE GAME IS MISSING.

Can I stop yet?

@TGLMAxX

I want to say Uranus was supposed to be a Boss song, and I believe they rate charts before stepping by a whole seperate team of people, so they assumed the Step Artists were going to make it like a 10/10+.

I understand they wanted it to be a boss song, but really, it shouldn't matter anymore if they just colored the song red, which I assume they did.

The rating team should ask for a song to be and easy, hard, or easy/hard boss song, get the Step Artists to make the steps, and then rate it after.

If they honestly grade songs before the stepchart is made, then that's the most backwards thing I've ever heard of. I highly doubt it works that way.

The grading on urehnus probably came from the stops, which honestly pose no difficulty whatsoever because the next step that comes up after them is so far away from it that you have ample reaction time.

I make alot of stepcharts, Urehnus is my latest one. I moved the Konami oni chart down to heavy because it's a great chart, but isn't hard enough to be a 10 at all. Then I made my own version of what the oni steps should've been.

I'm sure you'll find that my oni steps are a vast improvement on the skeleton of the old oni chart, and are worthy of a 10 rating, though it's currently rated an 11 (and some say is an easy 12).

www.teamgwailo.org/uploads/maxxsimfiles/Urehnus.rar <- Man, I even had to rename the rar to be able to link it. Sorry a planet, and a song in your game, is too vulgar to be mentionned on these forums, jeez.

If you haven't played this song at all before, play the heavy chart first so that you can understand where my improvements were made.

I also personally vote for a simfile submission forum, so that Konami can pick our brains and maybe use some of the better independant content from the simfile makers registered on this forum.

Assist tick helps too if you don't understand the rhythm behind a perticular section.

Okay, so all of you would rather have a scoreboard with about a thousand people tied for first place with a full perfect combo rather than one or two with the least amount of non-Marvellous? I'd rather have the latter. More depth in scoring systems is not a bad thing.

Neither is translation. Would you rather have Magic Door, or That J-Poppy Happy Hardcore-ish Song Under M.

My complaints: TGLMaXX said everything I would say.
