Some Japanese posters on 2ch and other places are reporting that representatives from Konami are going to local arcades (In Japan, of course) and promoting a new Arcade Dance Dance Revolution Game, possibly scouting for location tests.

Not many details are known about this alledged new release, but apparently it will be released in Winter and no upgrades will be available for it, dedicabs only (If this is true, it's likely DDR will be going through a major hardware change or something).

Remember, these are all just rumors at this point, and there's really been no confirmation from Konami of its existence. Keep your eyes on the Japanese Konami website for any announcements in the coming months.

Dedicabs only? Sounds like this is a new type of dedicab all together, this could be very neat. Smile

Well .... I hope this be real, and waiting for a  new DDR Cabinet because it's about time, Beatmania have IIDX long time ago, why DDR (the most played game in the world bemani) have a new deluxe cabinet?? ....

While I'm almost 100% certain Konami has been working on a new AC version for a while, it would be incredibly foolish for them to release it ONLY as a new cabinet.  The arcade industry isn't exactly thriving, and forcing arcade owners to throw down an estimated $15,000-$20,000 for a new cabinet (IIRC Supernova 1 dedicabs originally sold for $15K new) instead of the couple thousand it takes to buy an upgrade is going to move very few units.  Don't get me wrong; I'd be all for new, deluxe cabs with better pads, widescreen support, and IIDX AC quality sound, but not selling upgrades is going to kill most arcade owners.

Well we got to remember it's just rumors still. I'm sure Konami would offer upgrade kits for their new game, if they didn't, Konami would lose out on sales for the game.

We may have our answer. Apparently DDR:X is being released as a cabinet in Europe, but a (translated) quote from a European arcade site states:

"Dance Dance Revolution X
It is only announced for Playstation 2, but Dance Dance Revolution X will be entitled to a release for arcade. The game is to succeed DDR Supernova 2. The game will celebrate the anniversary of 10 years for DDR.
The cabinet will also be officially released in France (unlike DDR Supernova 2).
It is also interesting to note that the name "Dancing Stage" is over. Now the DDR games which will be released in Europe well known Dance Dance Revolution and no longer Dancing Stage."

Which hints at a global release.

...then that means that DDR X won't be CS exclusive? BUT still, we may never know, just like in Bemanistyle.com, this could just be a release in Europe, but it DOES hint as to a title that "succeeds DDR SuperNOVA 2", and looking at the statement it does hint to a global release....and wasn't there some website that said that Japan will also get DDR X for the PS2 later on after the US gets theirs?

Guess we wait until more information surfaces? =)

EDIT: man, if this is true, then i somehow envision the DDR X game for PS2 just like SN2, moreover this version will include the remaining SN2 songs, but only a few of the DDR X songs from the (possible) AC.

The only thing I really hope for is for this game is for Konami to listening to  our feedback.

or at least make this game better than SN2.

Yeah SN2 was the best DDR with 4th Mix Plus and Extreme.

Don't get me wrong, SN2 was a improvement over Sn1 but it could have been better.

I'm sure at this point we know about the problems with Betson, lack of Eamusement, ect, ect, not to mention by the time we see the final unlocks, this next game morelikey be out.

Ah well...I was thinking in terms of the game itself :P. But yeah, how it was handeled in America was pretty awful.

yea...and we MAY be seeing this again IF DDR X becomes the next AC, but if not, then well hey! we might have caught up! =D

P.S. SN2 was way better than SN, but like piepiepie75 said, the way America handle it was pretty awful.

DDRX will probably be just for Europe.

EDIT: And I am wrong on my guess. Darn.

ya know if they learn from pump and do there style of pads (not 5 panel, but contruction.) and that nice screen with some good sound theyd save alot of space in arcades. The NX2 by m place is tiny but the screen is nice and big its excellent to play on.
