I'm trying to convince a nearby arcade to upgrade to DDR SuperNOVA 2 with the possibility of e-Amusement in the future (if things ever work out with that). However, their machine is a DDR SuperNOVA which was upgrade from (I think) DDR USA. It is NOT a SuperNOVA dedicab. Will they be able to install e-Amusement on that machine, or would they have to buy a brand-new SN2 dedicab?
e-Amusement compatibility question

The only e-Amuse machine in the US was an upgraded SN2 I believe.
I was under the impression it was an SN2 dedicab.
Was it SN1 before? If so, was it a SN1 dedicab, or upgraded again from something earlier?
The main reason I'm asking is because if the pre-SN cabinets can't have eAmusement installed after upgrading to SN2, the arcade would have to buy a completely new machine, which would make it more difficult to talk them into installing eAmusement.
I am unsure about this. I would ask xOMEGAx as he plays on the eAmuse-enabled machine in Naperville. Also, keep in mind that Konami's current plans are to expand eAmuse only to Brunswick Bowling & Billiards. If Konami releases eAmuse elsewhere I would assume they would make the exact requirements for installing the service unambiguous.
I'm not Noria anymore.
I sure hope they don't leave it at that, because the nearest Brunswick Bowling location to me is 174 miles away. :/
Thanks for your reply, I guess I'll just have to wait it out and see what happens.
e-Amusement can only be used on SN2. Any SN1 cabinet whether it be an upgrade or dedicated cabinet can be upgraded to SN2. the SN2 upgrade kit includes new stickers for the machine, a new marquee, a new security dongle, and an upgrade DVD.
"Also, keep in mind that Konami's current plans are to expand eAmuse only to Brunswick Bowling & Billiards."
I give up.
These are only Konami's current plans. The reason being is likely related to their main US contact in this endeavor, which is Ryan from Arcadefuture. Ryan would like to see other places get e-Amusement in the future as well.
There are quite a few hurdles to overcome in convincing arcades to get e-Amuse, and any number of them could be part of the delay. Currently, a statically configured IP address is needed to access the network. This is a major problem as static IPs are not cheap. Perhaps Konami is looking for a solution to this or to any number of the other technological requirements that make e-Amuse a risky endeavor for arcades.
I wouldn't say you should give up, just be patient and complain in a polite and encouraging way ;)
****...i should know this stuff about IP address...im taking Cisco Academy! X__X lol man if only i could help -_-...
EDIT: lol, so the only place so far that is given e-amuse attention is the Brunswick site? wow...well hopefully with the posts of everyone wanting the e-amuse all over AND the end of Zukin Wars episode 1, im guessing that we might see another place shine with e-amuse soon...=)
From Konamix to the NOVA 2, still lovin' that DDR!

"so the only place so far that is given e-amuse attention is the Brunswick site?"
Not exactly. Someone at Konami (not sure who) has personal connections with Ryan from Arcadefuture. Ryan has personal connections with Brunswick Zone, and these connections are what has allowed e-Amuse in the US to happen. Last I knew, Ryan was working on getting more Brunswick Zone locations on the e-Amuse network, but it is a bit of a slow process. He is investing some of his own personal money and time into this to make it work out as well.
I know lots of other places have expressed interest (Zuma Fun Centers being one of the ones I work with that has). I'm not sure what the exact cause of the delay is. I wish I did :(
It is not a dedicated SuperNOVA 2 machine, the pads are not new, and neither is the machine.
e-Amusement is not machine dependent, it is another add-on you buy for the machine.
Niether my favorite song, nor my favorite character are selectable. <_<
I guess I don't count.
"just be patient and complain in a polite and encouraging way ;)"
Right. I'll just keep being patient for something we should have had since January. =DDD After all, it's totally explained why we don't have e-amuse, and Konami is CONSTANTLY keeping us up to date with direct press releases. ^_^
ranatalus: oh ok then...hopefully he can just get them to see that nearly EVERY city in the US that has an upgraded SN2 is asking for e-amuse...
...however, with the unlock codes that we just got from the new site, its possible for machines without e-amuse to get as up-to-date as it can (sadly, the unlock code doesn't get you PARANOiA ~HADES~ as an EES...and L'amour at et liberte in the MERCURE...=( )but it was a very smart move that they did introducing the unlock codes...but now that people know about it, you just might see someone unlock a code that hasn't been released on the site (though chances for that happening would be pretty rare).

"e-Amusement is not machine dependent, it is another add-on you buy for the machine." Thanks Terrabull, this is more or less what I wanted to know.
ranatalus: Thanks for filling us in on that, now we know a little more of the backstory. It doesn't fully explain the delays, but at least it's something more we know now that we didn't know before.
I just hope that the kinks can be worked out and e-Amuse can be rolled out to other sites before all the e-Amusement specific events (such as the Internet Ranking and Zukin Wars) are over... once those are over and the final unlock code is released, there isn't much more to look forward to other than the possibility of e-Amuse with the next version of DDR, whenever that is.

Trust me, I'm not happy about it either. However, taking the "we are owed this, we deserve this, asdlghaskdjhaodgiuaghklh konami sux" approach isn't likely to be encouraging.

It looks like they are trying to keep the unlock codes a little bit behind the e-amuse unlocks, which makes sense. I'm willing to bet the next unlock code will be released at the end of this internet ranking, and will unlock the l'amour remix, make PH available for EES, and unlock Fire (and probably the two ranking courses as well). It's probably to make it so arcades still have incentive to get e-amuse whenever it is offered, as they will be ahead of the curve on unlocks and while I don't know about you, I would certainly rather play on a machine with more songs unlocked and with sync fixes than one without :)
...you know what i just realized...
what happens if the owners (or people who take care of the machines) find out that because of the unlock codes that are being used on the machines which unlocks songs that were released in e-amuse but is an alternate way, wouldn't this make them NOT want e-amuse? well, yes it might unlock it for machines without e-amuse, but...e-amuse is just....AAHHH i can't think of a good reason to have e-amuse, i just know that i want to try it! >_<

There is a lot more to e-amuse and the e-amuse card system than just unlocks.
dont you want to know your personal high scores, and save everything you have done.? That is what e-amuse does. It keeps track of everything for you!

Here is kinda weird to use e-amusement.
1: The most cheaped ISP here is the ones with static IP (like Telefonica, or Telmex)
2: Omega, can ask Ryan about the use of an Dynamic IP for e-amusement?
3: what is the current price for all regarding e-amusement?
* e-amusement kit
* some $$$ to konami
* price of the eamusement cards (per pack and per unit)
and so one.

The local operator says "e-amusement in fall 2008" (colombia only)
maybe we can speed up the process.
oh man i can't wait to go back to Colombia, and by that time, they should have e-amuse there and here so i should be ok!.....right? O.o (i am kinda lost, if you go to a different country and use your e-amuse card, would it still work? i would THINK it would, but idk.)

...true. Oh well, there is always experimenting =). So kinda want to change the topic, if Colombia is (supposedly) getting their's Fall 2008, then will the US probably get their's in late summer 2008? or around the same time?

Well, technically speaking the US already has it.
rateiosu, I will try to ask Ryan about Dynamic IP's, and I did go over it with him a little about where e-amuse was heading next. He can only say, it is still being released places, and will be released in other places. He can not give me a time...
Also Trust me next time I do see Ryan, I will try to talk with him, he is a very busy person, so dont be surprised if I do ever talk to him again. Last timne I saw him, he was so busy he could only say "hi". Also he does not work at BZN, he works at many BZ's.
rateiosu: As far as I know, Dynamic IPs will not work on e-Amuse as the server functions on an IP whitelist, meaning that only connections from specific IP addresses are allowed.
