^ YES! So I'm not the only one who would go manic over a game like that...preferably 90's, as long as they stayed away from the "boy bands." Imagine all the actual dance hits they could have...Be My Lover, Rhythm is a Dancer, Another Night, What is Love?, Good Vibrations, C'Mon and Ride It (The Train), Macarena...and then other awesome songs like Tubthumping, The Impression That I Get, Mambo No. 5, Lovefool, Santeria, How Bizarre, Smooth, Steal My Sunshine, Jump Around (of course it'd completely overuse jumps), Just a Girl, Whoomp! There It Is...and about 50 more songs besides these...

Personally, I'm the type who just finds more fun out of the things I recognize. Now that doesn't mean I'm all for a flood of Stefani/Timerlake/Spears/Tisdale in the next edition of DDR. That's not it at all. I tend to enjoy "one hit wonders" and very popular songs from the last four decades, not so much the "this year's mainstream radio" music we got in SuperNova 2. I enjoy the lists we got in past installments where they were a healthy mix of well-known licenses and underground stuff that we all can discover. I hope in future games they will go back to the way they did the licenses before the 2008 series of DDRs. I'm sure each game has good music that I would enjoy, but the underwhelming lists of recognizable licenses for X and Universe 3 were the reason I chose not to buy any new editions this year. I really enjoyed Universe 2's list. Very popular songs like Jungle Boogie, The Way You Move, Safety Dance and Take Me Out spanning several decades along with a list of lesser known but fun songs like Apache, Fire, Is It Any Wonder, and probably my favorite, So Fine.
Topic: What we want in DDR Universe 4
All right, so I watched a video of My Favourite Game's expert chart on ITG, and I suppose I can take back the statement that they can go ahead and "squeeze even more Oni into the next game, as obnoxiously hard as the charts may be". The arrows in My Fav song barely even go to the music at all. They're in time with the music, but the eighths and sixteenths are so...random. That's a song that wouldn't be any more than a 5 or 6 in DDR, assuming the arrows would actually follow the music. Basically what I meat by "hard" oni charts is, go ahead and make them, but also make sure they follow the bass or synth or whatever the song may have that happens to have complicated rhythms (i.e. I still don't think there's anything wrong with making oni charts like Mur Mur Twins that follows the piano, as long as the steps follow SOMETHING). Don't take an easy song and make it hard by adding a flood of 128ths and all that crap just because. If someone badly wants a song that doesn't follow anything, that's what edit mode is for.

I'd just like to say, keep up the oni charts. Personally I don't care how dificult and ridiculous they are. That's why it's the hardest difficulty. Oni's different than heavy - I personally think Expert charts should be 7s, 8s, and MAYBE 9s, but definitely not be borderline 10s (The Way You Move by Outkast). Anything that is pretty challenging is probably better off being an Oni chart, so take advantage of it. The 20 or so in Universe 3 is a huge step up, so as long as Heavy charts are still fun and playable, I say go ahead and squeeze even more Oni into the next game, as obnoxiously hard as the charts may be. That's why they're the highest difficulty; if anyone has a problem with them then they should edit or stick to Expert.

Hey, thanks. I happened to see those two on Youtube today when I typed in "DDR X" and clicked show all uploaded today. Assumed right away that since it was just those two up that it was my request being fulfilled. Hmm, if I made the Here We Go chart I probably would have done it to go more with the brass and the electric guitar (whenever they say "Here we go, here we go, here we go-go-go", that riff that comes after), but I think the Xbox 360 games tend to go more with the instruments and stuff while the PS2 games' charts tend to take the beat and make 8th notes and stuff out of it.

For anyone who feels like making videos, I'm requesting the following heavy charts:
Here We Go
Sound of Freedom
Wine Red
Topic: DDR Universe 3 Song List (Release #1)
What's with Konami sticking with unknown licenses this year? I know that list has absolutely nothing that would lure a young player. The only ones that are even vaguely familiar are Dancin' Machine (from a Ritz commercial or something, that's the only way I even recognize it) and A Fifth of Beethoven because I've heard it like once, and none of the licenses are even interesting. Last Universe brought us quite a handful (Take Me Out, Walk Like an Egyptian, Rock-It, The Way You Move, Jungle Boogie, Safety Dance) and it was such a great list. Hmm...I'll have to pass on this release that I was anticipating (I have listened to some of the licenses by looking them up, and they all just sound like retro disco anyway).
Topic: Poll Question: Upcoming DDR Games
Universe 3, because I prefer the "in-house artists'" licenses over the Konami originals. The only thing I'm a little concerned about is the possibility that they bailed out on "well-known licenses" the way DDR X did this time around. I dig songs like Mobo Moga and Absolute, but I'm kind of hoping the number of Konami originals stays within the ballpark of the other Universe games - the enormous license list makes the series what it is.

It's not sounding too bad, but Konami's not going to pull a DDR X and decide not to obtain some big-name licenses this time around, are they? Universe 2's list was awesome.

Yeah, I've been doing that, and so far Wine Red and Here We Go have both appealed to me most, but I think I'll just play a friend's to try those or wait until the game gets marked down. Probably watch the heavy charts on Youtube.
Topic: What are your plans when the new DDR games are released? : )
Though I have a PS2, I've found myself enjoying the Universe series much more, so I plan on using a Circuit City gift card towards Universe 3 in October and playing the crap out of the 40-something licenses and Quest Mode to unlock more songs whenever I'm not busy with school. It's strange, I never cared for Stellar Master Mode or any of those things on PS2, but on the Universe series I like playing Quest mode...maybe it's because you have much more freedom, it's more of just a "play whatever songs you want" type deal.
Topic: DDR X Song List
Seems like the spots for licenses that would have gone to the "well-known" songs instead went to the 10th anniversary revivals this time around. I never was an arcade player so I'm not familiar with any of them (except Butterfly a little bit). I find nothing wrong with discovering new songs and I definitely have in the past games, but with only three licenses this time around that I'm familiar with (one which I despise) to start me off compared to 10 or so in the other most recent games, I'm just not...motivated to shell out $40. Sorry Konami, but I'm going to have to pass.
Topic: Poll Question: Stat Tracking
I like the idea but it doesn't work for me. My Xbox Live name's different than my forum name so it won't show up when people click on my profile...and it won't update each time I play when I select "Xbox Live" on the Universe 2 screen...

Just to confirm something, there's about a 99% chance that Here It Goes Again will have its music video. According to this screenshot, it will appear Dancing Stage Universe 2, so Konami has the rights and whatnot. http://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v4/viewpicture.php?pictureid=4235
I'm still stoked to play Here We Go by Ozomatli. I downloaded it yesterday and it's such an awesome song.
Topic: Poll Question: Do you prefer licensed music or Konami/Bemani music?
It's all about the licenses for me. I want to dance to something recognizable that everyone can enjoy hearing and watching. Don't like the Japanese pop.

I think Canned Heat will be fun. Quite different compared to the more "hip-hoppish" Feels Just Like It Should we got in DDR Universe. Canned Heat has more of a 70's Earth Wind and Fire disco/R&B sound to it. Apparently it's their most popular song, too. Not to mention that since it is in the Universe series, it's bound to have a great stepchart.
