Topic: Can we please clean up ranking board from cheaters??
all of those scores are really bad anyway. i didn't think it was possible to get less than a AAA on home version, with the timing window being as big as a boeing.

moose everything you said was completely OT. Who said konami is dumb? They're not perfect and they have flaws in games and we're just trying to help improve that...i don't get it.
snapps also has it.
Topic: My opinions (and others) suggestions for future releases.
Agreed, calm down kids. :D especially you moose, you crazy boy you
Hands aren't a big issue to me at all, everything else really bothers me to an extent though. I think just about everything has been covered. I only suggested what I'm completely sure of that will genuinly improve this game due to experience.
If anyone wants to get on anyone's case about who's "hardcore", just go to Groovestats.com right now and look at the top 5 players (minus Adrian, that kid is sketchy and can't provide proof of anything regardless of having a camera). also http://www.inthegroove.com/page/European_Championships_2006 . Also won DDR there too :X
i'm more of a nerd than anyone here can imagine as i said before :D

Damien,
Wow, you came off pretty angry sounding in that one. If you're such a fan of Marvelous, have you tried Rediculous timing yet? No? Are you not -quite- that hardcore?
nope, i've only been playing since 2002, got second in the las vegas itg nationals, first in both itg and ddr world cup in norway in 2006, winning an itg machine of my own. no, i have no idea what hardcore means. also search "damien ageha" on youtube.
i'm probably more of a nerd about this game than anyone can dream of :|

I can't believe I disagree with you on everything MdxMaxX. I can tell by your arguments that you haven't been playing nearly as long as me. I know what I'm talking about.
1) Marvelous has been in DDR since DDRMax, but previously it has only been available in course mode on the arcade versions. On the home versions, however, it has been available in regular gameplay since Extreme 2. But anyway, I agree with you, you can almost always get more Marvelouses on a song.
I'm talking regular gameplay bud. And I believe this is the arcade section.
2) I don't think EVERY song needs challenge steps, only the ones that really deserve them do. Or the ones that didn't get enough difficulty the first try. And about stops and bpm changes, that's what makes a DDR Boss Song a DDR Boss Song (well, most of them anyway). Boss Songs would be kind of more boring if they were one constant speed. And most stops and bpm changes are appropriate.
Ok so +32472349 songs that nobody decent will play. There is a reason people who are good like ITG more, especially with custom song support. And no, the speed changes are completely retarded. Show me a 10 from the good mixes like MAX/2 and extreme that have stupid bpm changes. Exactly, none. Don't even say the tiny little bit of slowdowns in the earlier 10s, those ARE accurate and don't have stupid speed-ups like faxx that is exactly the same bpm as the rest of the song, hence the purple arrows.
3) Konami has to make everybody happy in some ways. The casual player or new player is attracted to different characters, bright, colorful visuals, and popular songs. It's true that hardcore players don't care about these things, but taking these things away can hurt the casual audience's attraction to the game. Some things just have to be compromised.
I said the OPTION to turn off characters, if you want them, fine. And the game can be colorful without being impossible to see the arrows. Every single person who is really good agrees. This is a stupid argument of yours. If the arrows can't be seen, what's the point of playing?
4) Well, the score shows your progress. Just take the first two numbers of the score, and that's about the percentage so far.
You completely missed the point.
5) Honestly, American releases need these "American favorable" songs. I mean, if you don't like them, just don't play them, that's what I do.
OK, somewhat agree. They just need to pick better songs.
6) I don't think DDR needs any drastic changes such as Hands or Mines yet. That's just completely my opinion though.
I never said anything about mines. DDR has been around since 1998, it's about time something changes in the gameplay itself. I said challenge steps. Like you even said, if you don't want to play it, don't. ITG has been out since....04 I think, and hands haven't bothered most people who are good.
7) If you are talking about arcade, the newer mixes do have most of the songs from older mixes. They're just in a different sort I think. We can have some almost insanely hard charts, but not too many.
Not many from 3rd/4th/5th mix. I've played SN and I barely see any from extreme and lower. And if they are, they're not very good.
8) I do like the interface, too. It could be a little less two-dimensional, though.
Dunno what to say to this, you pretty much agreed.
9) You don't need players to test sync. Metronomes and handclap and stuff can do that.
Tell that to anyone who's played pre-patch SN. On the european version we had to play in Norway, everything was ridiculously off sync. Anything we've AAAd we couldn't SDG without concentrating way too hard, which ultimately made all of us do bad in the first couple rounds of the ITG world cup because everything on SN was way off sync.. Super-max-me-mix was literally about a second off-beat toward the end, it just drifted later and later throughout the song.
And where is metronome and hand clap on the arcade machine? This is the arcade section, I couldn't care less about the worthless home versions.
10) I can't say much about pads since I rarely play at the arcade.
Ok.
11) I don't think we need more speed mods, nor will Konami put more speed mods. They've been the same since DDRMax, they probably won't change. I think speed mods are meant for training or challenge purposes, they are not meant to be depended on.
No. They make a huge difference, and I guaruntee you'd love to play songs that have more options. This is strictly not an argument on your side. If you don't want to use them and be weird, then don't.
And what does that even mean, depended on? Who says anyone depend on it? And for us who play for fun AND for a challenge, this is handy.
It really sounds to me like you don't want people who are good to play this game.

yep that's pretty much why I did it. I just said what everyone suggests but in one long post for your viewing pleasure.
Topic: My opinions (and others) suggestions for future releases.
ah ok, thanks for letting me know. we need a little more than one in two songs though.
One more thing I forgot: Speed mods. I REALLY think we need .25 multipliers. Whether people think so or not, it DOES make a huge difference for some. For example, I can read roughly 600bpm comfortably on ITG, but 620 or higher is a bit hard.

I'd like to start by saying hello everyone. I joined up because I'd like to share what my views are of the game since the SuperNova series. I haven't played much DDR since I was into competitive In The Groove, but DDR was what's always been there since the beginning and I still care about where this game goes.
First off, I like marvelous timing and the new scoring system. The marvelous timing makes a new way to improve even more. If you look passed the letter grade itself then it's not so bad, you can keep improving your Marvelous attack either way.
The overall difficulty of the game now. I think for the more hardcore fanbase who want a bigger challenge, challenge steps should to be added to everything. A lot of the 10s have this but they've gotten kind of ridiculous with the whole step-jump patterns. They're challenging but they're awkward to do sometimes. I liked AM-3P's challenge steps because even though it's all 16th note stream, it at least was new and had no weird awkward step-jump patterns and it's a song I'd probably play more than once. this goes for the dramatic bpm changes in just about all the 10 footers. Please, enough with those. They don't make it any harder, they're just annoying.
The background movies/characters. I think there needs to be an option of turning off characters. I also believe background's brightness needs to be lowered. There are times in SN where I couldn't see the arrow at all. Simple songs like Healing-D-Vision on extra stage in the first SN was hard to get used to due to the background movies. I'd say cut the brightness level in half and I think the majority of people will agree that this will dramatically change the experience for the better.
Oni courses. I'd like to be able to see my current progress while I'm playing the course. I'm actually glad they went back to the percentage scoring system like in MAX2, thanks. I just don't think anyone wants to play through five stamina draining 10 footers just to see they didn't improve in the least. ALSO, bring back legend road. Enough said :D
American song releases. I can see you wanting to generally "fit in" with America's pop culture, the majority of people dislike Britney Spears and the likes. This doesn't just go for SN, Extreme was the same way. Maybe some more DnB, trance, hardcore, etc. Perhaps trying to fit into the American Pop Culture by going with different genres than pop itself.
I hate to have to compare to your competitor's game to tell you to make improvements, but I feel it makes it much easier to explain what I mean in this. I liked hands in ITG and I think others wouldn't mind it on the challenge charts as long as they're not insanely hard. Just the occasional hand wouldn't hurt anyone :D
I realize it's a new game thus new songs, but bringing back classics from the old mixes would be sweet. There are a lot of songs that were really fun and I'm sure a lot of us would be happy seeing them again, hopefully with the old chart on heavy and new charts on challenge as I said above. This also goes for long versions. bring them back, make more of them, whatever. I'd like to see insanely hard long versions like you see in Pump (again, I'm sorry for comparing to a competitor). Wi-Ex-Doc-Va is a good example. It's impossible for newer players, but for vets and up-and-coming players, it's amazing. This goes with remixes as well. When I say long versions, I don't just mean all new songs, but long versions of older songs would be great too, like the B4U long version on 5th and such.
The interface as a whole is nice. I don't know what I can possibly say about this. Maybe having the background change colors like a fluid mixing with another would look really cool.
Syncing. I'm hoping this will be worked on a bit more in future releases. please let songs be tested by good players to make sure these songs are perfect.
Now for the arcade machines themselves. The pads on every Betson cabinet I've played on are horrible. Our 6-year-old extreme machine was better than our 2-day-old SuperNova cab.
One more thing I forgot: Speed mods. I REALLY think we need .25 multipliers. Whether people think so or not, it DOES make a huge difference for some. For example, I can read roughly 600bpm comfortably on ITG, but 620 or higher is a bit hard.
This is all I can think of at the moment. I'm well aware that these have been said multiple times, but I think all of it needed to be said while being extremely discriptive, making good suggestions, and all in one post.
I can probably think of more if I go and play again sometime, but for now, I think this is fine.
Happy arrow stomping.
