Topic: Boss Songs: What's Next?
So er...yeah, we have some really tough and fun boss songs right now, and one of them (Pluto Relenquish) even tops out at 800 BPM for a few measures (it's just freezes in those measures, but still). However, with the inclusion of the new rating system and the hardest boss songs only rating 18 out of 20, I have to ask: What's next for DDR Boss Songs?
In other dancing games, songs have already become "GOOD GOLLY MISS MOLLY?!" hard. For example, in "Many Great Dancers" 3, there are a few boss song series, such as Destination and Dash Hopes (mind you, this specific series is a joke series). Destination averages 400+ BPM, the fastest one topping out at 434 BPM and the slowest (and possibly cruelest) is 37 BPM. Dash Hopes 1, 2 and 3 are 450, 500 and 601 BPM, respectively.
Pump It Up takes a different route from speed and deathruns, for example the song CHIMERA, which is just crazy. INSANITY.
Dance Praise has...has...*thinks*
In The Groove had Pandemonium, which was sheer horror at 330 BPM, and the VerTex series, with VerTex² being an insanely erractic piece of work. (VVV continues this tradition in Pump It Up PRO).
So I have to ask: What's next for DDR boss songs? More speed? More erractic step-play? More craziness all around?

"I completely agree with you ToyoWolf, but some people are just being really dumb over at FFR."
I just find it hilarious that they seemingly find this first online DDR outing by Konami, which will undoubtedly have bugs in it, a massive threat to the 4+ year old game which has had the nessessary time to be refined over those years.
I mean, yeah, FFR is a fun game, but it's not exactly perfect either. :P
EDIT:
"All in good fun :)"
We are on page 17 of a topic that has been bombarded with almost nothing but "FFR IS BETTER FFR IS BETTER", and it's all in good fun?
How, exactly, does DDR Web impact the popularity of FFR? How?

So, wait, you're calling DDR, the inspiration for Flash Flash Revolution, a pathetic excuse of a game.
You are aware FFR isn't exactly perfect either. You do know that.

Wow Gausmaster, you have sure shown your passion for a web-based video game.
A greater cause there has never been.
EDIT: I've actually noticed quite a few sockpuppets people sticking up for FFR over this game.
Why? I was not aware this was a such huge threat for FFR. If you don't enjoy it, don't play it. There's no need to be obnoxious about it.

Topic: November 21st
The anniversary of the first release of DDR is upon us!
What will you do?
I'm going to celebrate by going into the nearby town with all the DDRs in it, and play USA, 4th Solo, EXTREME and SuperNOVA in that order, all day.
At every location barring USA, I will play B4U.
At every location, I will also play Brilliant 2U.
Also at every location (barring SuperNOVA), I will play LET THEM MOVE (I still love that song to this day <3).
Also, CELEBRATE NITE, at any location that has it.
EDIT: ALSO PARANOiA!
I've probably put way, way too much thought and dedication into this, but it's the series that I've loved since before I even knew how to play it, and it's going to be it's first release's Anniversary. I'm going to celebrate into the nite. :D
I do want to know one thing though...Will any of the programmers or composersor anyone in Konami comment on how old this series is?
I'd love to hear Naoki's thoughts on it. :3

Good!
The lisences were great for the game, I loved a great deal of them, especially 30 Lives, Swingin', Happy, Here It Goes Again, Sound of Freedom, and U CAN'T TOUCH THIS. The "urban" theme of the game was odd at first but I love it now, it fits the songs marvelously.
The commissioned Konami Originals from the likes of DKC Crew, Tommie Sunshine and everyone else are also amazing. I loved most if not all of them! Taj He Spitz and it's remix are paticular favorites of mine. :)
The actual Konami Originals are also really really great, and I believe their lower numbers are fittingly compensated by the commissioned KOs. SABER WING and it's remix are probably the two favorite KOs of mine in the whole game. S-A-G-A too!
I noticed Naoki had alot fewer new songs, if any at all, in the game. There was Pluto and that one Terra song and...not much else that I could note, however I could see him as potentially taking a break due to the huge amount of songs he contributed to HOTTEST PARTY. :P
I loved that while there was some great hard songs, there were also really fun easier songs as well. In the day and age of "easy =/= fun" in dance games, this was very welcomed by me due to the fact that some of my favorite charts in all of DDR are actually pretty easy.
I like the Shock Arrows, although the "Basic with Shocks" Challenge charts are hilariously silly. "Hard with Shocks" Challenge songs are pretty cool, they're fun. :3
The stages are YES. I LOVE the stages. They're much better than previous stages.
The 2008 X-Edit songs are pretty cool too, you guys actually made me love GET UP'N'MOVE (it was never a real favorite of mine, NOW IT IS!)!
Overall, the game is wonderful. I love it! Great job, Konami! :D

Topic: Scratch: The Ultimate DJ
"Today developer '7 Studios' announced their take on the music game genre, Scratch: The Ultimate DJ. Flaunting a partnership with Numark and Quincy Jones III, Scratch is said to "allow players to re-imagine songs on the fly and add their own creativity". The game is getting a custom "scratch-pad" to be played with. I don't know if it's just me or not, but the screencaps look a lot like a GH/RBish take on a certain 5-key DJ title released in 1998.
The urban-focused DJ title is slated to drop in Spring 2009 for the XBox 360 and Playstation 3."

Also known as beatmania Hero.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
In all honesty though, I do hope 7 Studios got permission for this. It looks kinda cool. If they didn't and Konami sues though, I'll be on Konami's side. This is a hilariously blatant ripoff of beatmania 5key.

Now, I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I do like the song. However, I do consider this to be a completely different entity than the original CJ. The only way the two are related, in my mind, is the cool guy in uniform + cool girl lineup.
This is "Mainstream CJ" to me.

Topic: Modifiers
On DDR, I tend to use only Speed Mods.
However, if I had the choice of suggesting new modifiers/new implemenations, alot of my suggestions would be things seen before in StepMania, because I freaking love them.
Beat. This is where the arrows move left and right slightly to the beat. A variation of this I'd love to see is something like where the arrows "thump" to the beat, with them getting slightly bigger on every beat, looking like they are "jumping" to it.
Modded Courses. And I don't mean stuff like Trick. I mean the batfreak crazy stuff like in recent StepMania courses/MGD2 Extra Mode.Take a look at this example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaRVCbqEPZM
That is the "Insomnia Finale" course, a user-made modded course for StepMania. See how crazy it gets? Tone this down a bit for easier courses and have the same level of "OMGWTF" for harder courses andit'll be <3 from me.
.5x Speed Mod Increments. Pretty much self-explanatory. :P
I think that's it for now, but I may remember more.
