Actually not true.
DDR 1st Mix - EXTREME (ARCADE) for example were all PSX based. Yes, PLAYSTATION 1 based hardware, and CD-ROM based (not DVD). Load up an arcade disk, and it will boot until you get hardware errors. DDR Extreme
Arcade versions at that point had up to 230 songs, and that was on CD-ROMs. On DVDs, the storage capacity is by far much greater, so actual song capacity is not the issue, IMO at least.
