" PS2 games have less songs than AC games usually because there's usually not enough space to fit every Arcade song on console games."

Actually not true.

DDR 1st Mix - EXTREME (ARCADE) for example were all PSX based.  Yes, PLAYSTATION 1 based hardware, and CD-ROM based (not DVD).  Load up an arcade disk, and it will boot until you get hardware errors. DDR Extreme

Arcade versions at that point had up to 230 songs, and that was on CD-ROMs.  On DVDs, the storage capacity is by far much greater, so actual song capacity is not the issue, IMO at least.

I'd personally be happy with a return of Burning Heat! (3 Option Mix) from MAX2... or the IIDX 7th Full Option Mix cut.

My PS2 died recently, and I can't fix it 'cause, adding insult to injury, it then got stolen.

So latest console accomplishments are on Konmix (PS2) until I can patch my used copy of DDR 1st Mix to work with my brother's external modchip equipped PS1.

Orion .78 (AMEuro Mix): Maniac: Doubles: B (having not played doubles in some time - like 5 months easily - up from a C)

SuperNova Arcade:

Twinbee ~Generation X~: Heavy: Single: Full Combo AA (19 greats)

Burning Heat! (3 Option Mix): Heavy: Single: Full Combo A

At the place I play, New Roc in New Rochelle NY, I consider these scores a miracle.

I think 3-panel was either UL-UR-D, or L-R-D.

SOLO is fun, heck, I do horridly in 6-panel mode, yet have tons of fun, and wish more games had it

I say bring back 6 and 3-panel DDR play modes.

(3 would be easy to implement, use L-R-D, but without 6-panel it would feel rather odd, IMO, to some degree.)

Simple:

With your fliptop'd PS2 take a U.S region PS1 disk and put it in, but don't close the top  so it goes into the library.  Close the main part of the top so it reads the PS1 disk.  Once it recognizes the disk, carefully take the disk out (since it will still be spinning), and place the PS1 import game you want to play in (again, carefully since the disk holding piece is still spinning).  Then press X, the console will not re-check the disk and boot normally.

Edits can include edits if you know how to exploit the edit systems.. and no, you don't need freezes to do this.

In regards to licences, I see confusion between diffuculty of varying degrees and impossiblity.

On another note: I have 1st mix! yay!

I popped the disk in my CD-ROM drive, and found ALL the game music tracks are right there, which means in theory that unless the music is actually in data files and the external files are just for playability in a CD-ROM player, if somebody wanted to change the music tracks to something different in game, it'd be pretty easy.

Sounds like a return to the append DDR days, I kinda like that.

I wish solo mode came back - that, as annoying as it can be at times, is awesome..

Actually, I really doubt the bootlegged-ness would REALLY matter, since non-MEGAMIX, non-extreme plus bootlegs are modified only to the extenty to bypass security features in the bemani system 573 hardware, megamix/extreme pluses have modified gfx/ one provide the overclocking features, I doubt the memory card programming was affected.

Finally pulled off the odd crossover in Burning Heat! (3 Option Mix) for a full combo A on SuperNOVA AC in a place infamous for really poor machine maintainence.

(MAX2 JP PS2: 16g 1 good AA)

Burning Heat! (3 Option Mix) is and always will be my favorite DDR song.  This catchy Gradius II game song remix was the catchy song that got me addicted to DDR.

(in 3 years, I've probobly played this song  a couple thousand times)

I think X and O should actually be not on the 9-panel matrix to begin - but rather in a control box separate from the udlr arrows - the metal denting from my old 3rd party DDR pad backing my personal sentiments.

I just acquired 1st Mix Japanese (IIRC, U.S a version did exist, as I saw in the instruction booklet for Konamix) - thank god for the PS2 swap tricks.  Talk about old school.

I never understood Konamix from a technical standpoint, I mean, 5th Mix in Japan basically ended the choppy 30FPS DDR gaming the year before, and DDRMAX was coming out almost 5 months after Konamix.

I hope in the future to acquire some PSX Dancing Stage mixes too someday. ~_~
